U.S. equities rose on Thursday as Wall Street interpreted former FBI Director James Comey's testimony as less damaging to President Donald Trump than feared.
The Dow Jones industrial average gained about 55 points and reached a record high, with the Goldman Sachs and Boeing contributing the most gains.
"I think this is a bit of a relief rally that there were no major bombshells from Comey's testimony," said Lindsey Bell, investment strategist at CFRA.
The S&P 500 traded 0.1 percent higher, with financials rising 1.7 percent to lead advancers. The Nasdaq composite advanced 0.26 percent and hit an all-time intraday high.
